New Take on Classic Golf Fashion

 

As the Good Fight leads the season’s TV spinoffs from the Good Wife, the world of golf fashion has their own good life spinoffs to watch. Lou Mettler was a partner in

Tommy Bahama and former retail partner of Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss and Joseph Abboud. When walking through a trade show, he propositioned his buddy Bill to

start a golf apparel brand. Bill was dubious but realized all the golf labels were foreign and there might be a good fit for what is now their Revolution USA. 100% of

all their products are “cotton grown and sewn in the USA.” This is a very casual lifestyle brand with ultra soft t-shirts and hats.

Pantemonium – Loudmouth

Robert Graham is the design guy with Ralph Lauren who came up with the brilliant idea of prints contrasting solids when the cuff is rolled up and

along the collar and button plackets. He launched his own expensive brand, which has been selling in high-end retail stores and is now available in

fine golf shops. His limited edition shirt is a true work of art. Should it be worn or hung on the wall is the question. The hand sewn peacock print

pattern is finely matched at the seams and button front. The intricate detailed stitching is exquisite. His line is eclectic with little eyeglasses accenting

various pieces. He is even bringing the Seersucker blazer back.

Spinning off from Loudmouth is former associate Scott Sterner with a very similar line of golf apparel called “Pantemonium”. The line includes

men’s shorts, pants and sports coats and ladies skorts, very short shorts, capris, pants and blazers. Prints include colorful corn hole bags, polka dots

and my favorite hashtag design. We are after all becoming a hashtag world. Perhaps the most lucrative segment of his business will be custom designs. You name it and

with only 24 pieces as the minimum, items are deliverable within 30 days. The Mark Taylor Company was thrilled with their order as they paraded their brand on pants

and skorts around the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Scott says, “They’re not just pants. They’re a walking billboard.”

There are likely many more spinoffs on the market so we’ll have to stay tuned and keep watching.
