It’s back to school time, apple cider time, that time of year when a nip in the air can grab you by surprise at any moment.

GT Tech in Navy

It’s layer time and here’s a thumbs up to all those long sleeve styles that have an extended length of arm cover with a thumbhole. The extension looks like a classy cuff and the whole sleeve may be pushed up to the elbow when it’s warm but when it’s cool, pull the cool sleeve over your hand and poke the thumb through for a quasi glove.

This is not new technology. Nike and Under Armor have warmed hands in this fashion for years. A couple designs in the golf world that warm my hands and my heart are by Kate Lord and Golftini.

Susan Hess, not the actress but the owner of Golftini has succeeded in carving her niche with a luxury brand of fashionable and functional women’s and junior golf apparel. Her first thumb holed tech jacket was delivered in navy with a full zipper for easy on and off layering. Her latest GT Tech Jacket comes in heather grey to match her grey leggings, grey and pink camo, animal print zebra or many different personally designed skorts. Layer on top with the reversible white/grey vest, all part of her “Expect the Unexpected Collection.”

Kate Lord is Ahead of the game attributing success to the work ethic of ancestors in the New Bedford area, from commercial fishing to the textile boom. Check out the history on their colorful website. Their Pepperbell jersey mesh pullover is a comfortable staple that moves through the day as well as through the golf swing. It is available in black, white, carnation and coral, a bright shade, which is front and center on their design catalog cover. Smooth fabric and detailed seam lines deliver a flattering fit.

It is just the right weight to go over a short sleeve layer or beneath a jacket and thumbs up to those thumbholes for comforting warmth!
