Dressing for the Open

Four times a year, a major rolls around and everyone gets excited.

Who will be the next major winner?

Will Rickie Fowler finally get one?

One thing that stays consistent with all majors are the releasing of scripts for some of the Tour’s best players.

And for this years Open, Jordan Spieth and Fowler are gearing up.

Spieth is getting ready for the plethora of weather patterns The Open will throw at him in North West England.

To get ready for the rain, Under Armour is equipping Spieth with their reactor material they have developed. This stuff is cool, it is designed to be water resistant for when the showers roll in on the front nine, but then be able to dry out quickly when the showers pass at the turn.

He will be getting even more reinforcement from Under Armour’s signature storm technology that helps athletes stay dry and warm in the wettest of conditions.

For Fowler, a Puma golfer, the script for his Open performance, color wise, is a bit bolder.

Side note, don’t tell Rickie, but the last seven major championships… have been won by first timers.

So, now I am done jinxing Rickie, for his outfits.

He will be wearing Puma’s fall/winter apparel.

Wow, it’s already the middle of July. Snow will be here before you know it.

So for the colder weather in England, Rickie will be suiting up in Puma’s PWRWarm outerwear technology. This is material on his clothing that is a ceramic print and designed to trap body his heat to keep him warm and loose.

His outfits will also include Puma’s stormCELL rainwear technology. This is ultimate-yet-breathable waterproof protection on his jackets and polos for when it gets a little soggy at Royal Birkdale.

Here are their scripts for the upcoming major:

Spieth will be sporting the usual navy blue-heavy outfits all week along with a nice pink polo on Saturday, assuming he makes it too the weekend.

As expected, Fowler comes out with some bold colors and patterns. But I think the real question for The Open is…

Will Rickie’s signature Sunday orange propel him to a major championship.
