World number one Dustin Johnson finished with four birdies on the incoming nine to take the Canadian Open for his third win this season and number 19 of his career all playing with TaylorMade equipment. It’s interesting that for the three of his 2017-2018 wins he has used the same equipment though both his driver and putter have been switched at various times.

He started the year with the M4 driver switched to the M3 then back to the M4 with a couple of shaft changes since winning the Tournament of Champions. His putter, the Spider Tour in the black version, has also been in and out of the bag but is performance with the flat stick at Glen Abbey would seem to clinch it staying at least through the FedExCup finals.

In Case Anyone Should Ask

Equipment at the Canadian Open: Players in the RBC Canadian Open most frequently chose drivers from TaylorMade Golf: 54 TaylorMade M3 or M4, 33 Titleist, 32 Ping and 28 Callaway. TMaG’s Spider Tour was also had the most played single putter model. Titleist had 118 of the 156 players using Pro V1 or Pro V1x with Callaway Chrome Soft a distant second at 14 players. Titleist is also the top choice in the hybrids (220) and irons categories (43). Their Vokey Design Wedges topped the approach, sand and lob wedge (220) category as did Scotty Cameron in the putter category with 62.

Titleist continues to gain Tour pro acceptance of the new TS drivers which have yet to be made available to the public. First “seeded” to the pros at the U.S. Open 17 of the 33 Titleist drivers at the Canadian Open were the TS Model: TS2-6 and TS3-11. Also, the first week in July saw introduction of the TS2 and TS3 fairway woods at the Quicken Loans tournament and of the 42 Titleist fairway metals in play at Glen Abbey, 10 were the TS2 model and 6 the TS3.
