The CJ Cup, third event on the PGA Tour of the 2018-2019 season, was played over the Club at Nine Bridges on Jeju Island, South Korea and won by Brooks Koepka with the win moving him to number one in the World Golf Rankings.

As last week at the CIMB Classic this was a limited field event of 78 competitors including 13 Koreans and featured several top ranked players: Brandy Snedeker, Justin Thomas, Jason Day, and Hideki Matsuyama. Following the CJ Cup the Tour has an opposite field event in Jackson, Miss. for the Sanderson Farms Championship and the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai, China.

To no one’s surprise Koepka used the same clubs for this win as he did for his two major victories last season, a bag composed of a mixture of clubs from four manufacturers.

Cobra KING Forged CB/MB: Workability and control are two characteristics Cobra built in to the new players-category KING Forged CB/MB irons which use cavity-back design in the 4 through 6-iron and a muscle-back in the 7 through pitching wedge. The shaping is a compact blade and weighting is done by two tungsten inserts in the toe and center. Shot tracking with Cobra Connect in the grips is standard. A stock set of 4-PW (4-6 CB, 7-PW MB) is $1,099. Full sets of CBs or MBs are available

TMaG P760: TaylorMade announced a line extension of the P700 series, the P760 players-category irons with forged heads specifically for use in mixed sets with the P790s introduced last August. The new model replaces the P750 and P770 with higher lofts having much like the P750s construction and the lower lofts similar to the P770s. As was done in the P790s the 3 through 7-irons of the P760s are hollow and injected with foam that dampens vibrations and improves the sound and feel. Scheduled to be in shops and online November 2, P760s are priced at $1,400 for a set of eight irons 3-iron through pitching wedge.

New Sigma 2: A layered face and a unique length adjustable shaft are features of PING’s new Sigma 2 line with prices starting at $215. The face insert is made of a soft front layer to help on short putts with a firm layer behind with their TR (True Roll) face pattern for consistent distance even on off-center hits. Shaft length of each for the 10 models can be adjusted from 32” and 36” without interfering with the grip using a special tool included with the putter.
