You are the “hottest player on the planet,” anointed as such by the Golf Channel and NBC Sports announcing crews and undoubtedly on a roll having won four of the past five events you have played. So what do you do? If you are Hideki Matsuyama before teeing it up in the SBS Tournament of Champions you of course change clubs, specifically irons which the Japanese star did prior to playing and finishing second last weekend in Kapalua.

Matsuyama over his last six events worldwide has posted four wins and two seconds with both coincidentally being loses to Justin Thomas.

Srixon Z 945

Matsuyama switched his irons from the Srixon Z 945 to the Srixon Z 965 model which he had been testing along with the Z 965s during the latter part of 2016. His last win, the Hero World Challenge in December saw the Z 945s in the bag.

The Z 965 irons have a compact muscle back blade and targeted for use by advanced players with Srixon’s Tour V.T. Sole for less drag through the turf to improve shot consistency with less dispersion. The compact blade-style head is forged from soft, mild 1020 carbon steel.

Pricing is between $825 and $1,100 depending on set makeup.
