Jack Nicklaus jumped on the AHEAD bandwagon more than 15 years ago and wears their headwear exclusively, as does Annika Sorenstam. While at Red Ledges in Utah, we noticed the top shelf hats in the proshop where Jack has designed another Signature course. In a scenic, secluded community outside Salt Lake City his championship course and smaller golf park are worthy of repeat play by owners who are willing to pay millions for the exclusive environment that is all about family and fun. Jack’s AHEAD hats feature his Golden Bear of course, along with the Red Ledges logo.
AHEAD hats are everywhere as they are a leading supplier of headwear to the USGA, PGA of America, Ryder Cup and numerous PGA Tour events in addition to more than 5,000 green grass and resort shops throughout the world. This week they are in Carnoustie as the world watches The Open. Among other active professional golfers who wear AHEAD gear on the course are Jim Furyk and Brittany Lincicome. Brittany jumps AHEAD of her field this week by debuting on the PGA Tour at the Barbasol Championship in Kentucky. She is the 6th woman in history to play on the TOUR. Paired with Dominico Geminiani in the qualifier, she joked that it seemed he outdrove her by 100 yards.
At Chateau Elan in Georgia, AHEAD hats pair well with Kate Lord graphic tee shirts which fly off the shelves according to the shop clerks. This was the case long before Troon’s involvement at Chateau Elan. Now AHEAD is involved with the 2018 Troon Challenge. As a sponsor they are providing the 1,000+ participants with an official event hat. Regional qualifying events for Troon’s largest amateur event began in April and will continue through October at 37 facilities in 13 states. Two-person teams in both net and gross divisions will compete to qualify for a spot in the Troon Challenge National Finals, Dec. 7-9 in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Troon North Golf Club’s Pinnacle and Monument courses. Any golfer can jump AHEAD of the competition while donning their headwear.
