BROOKLINE, MA (August 23, 2011)— The Country Club in Brookline hosted the 12th annual Brookline Youth Fund Golf Tournament on Thursday, August 4, and the event raised more than $40,000 for the Brookline Youth Fund. Those proceeds bring the total raised by the annual golf tournament to over $429,128 since it was first played in 2000.
The Brookline Youth Fund, which is administered by the Brookline Community Fund, provides support for at-risk and low-income youth in the Town of Brookline through a grant process for a wide range of programs and services, which include art, music, cultural and educational programs, internships, scholarships and social services.
The Fund was created in 1999 by The Country Club, in partnership with the Town of Brookline, with a $500,000 endowment through proceeds from the 33rd Ryder Cup Matches. The Country Club continues to build the Brookline Youth Fund by sponsoring and donating proceeds from the annual charitable golf tournament.
The Youth Fund at the Brookline Community Foundation has touched all of Brookline’s public schools, including Brookline High School, by providing grant money for supplemental programming. Other programs funded by the Brookline Youth Fund include ?Steps to Success, Emerald Necklace Conservancy, Brookline Early Education Program and Extended Day Program, Brookline Recreation Department, Parent Child Home Program, Art Barn, Brookline Arts Center, Company One, Cradles to Crayons,? Kids Clothes Club and many others.
