2013 CVS Caremark Charity ClassicPGA TOUR stars Bo Van Pelt and Steve Stricker, both CVS Caremark Charity Classic first-time participants, ran away with the 15th annual tournament posting a two-day score of 25-under-par 117. Their stellar performance broke the tournament record for lowest winning score, which was previously held by Matt Kuchar and Zach Johnson, who finished with a 24-under-par 118 in 2011.

Four strokes back and sitting solo in second place was the team of former Charity Classic champion Bill Haas and tournament co-host Billy Andrade, making this Andrade’s third second place finish in Charity Classic history. Defending champions Morgan Pressel and Jay Haas finished third with a 19-under-par 123 and fan favorites Rickie Fowler and Bubba Watson captured the fourth place spot with an 18-under-par 124.

Closest to the Pin

Michael Thompson won Tuesday’s closest to the pin contest with a 5’5” drive on hole 17, earning $25,000 for the American Heart Association, the tournament’s charity partner with which he was paired.

“This is fantastic news,” said Susan Sarro, regional vice president of the American Heart Association. “The extra $25,000 will go a long way to improve the cardiovascular health of all Rhode Islanders. We are grateful to continue to be a working charity at the CVS Caremark Charity Classic.”
