With “Strong is Beautiful” as their tag line, two-time major champ Rory McIlroy and his tennis star girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki are two of several celebrities featured in a new ad campaign aimed at attracting new fans to women’s tennis.

With Wozniacki mounting her fifth consecutive New Haven Open defense this week in Connecticut, the Women’s Tennis Association chose Tuesday to launch its latest effort to boost interest in the game. The superstars, who unfortunately tagged their power coupledom, “Wozzilroy,” are just two of many big names to lend their fame to the print and broadcast push.

Appearing for free as well in the commercials are real estate tycoon and golfing savant Donald Trump, Oscar-winning actor Susan Sarandon, and the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin. Also participating in the second phase of the “Strong is Beautiful” series that kicked off last year are 14-time Grand Slam singles champion Serena Williams, as well as multiple tourney winners Maria Sharapova and Kim Clijsters.

McIlroy, who’ll tee it up on Thursday at The Barclays at Bethpage Black in neighboring New York, took some time off from his preparations for the first leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs to hang out with Wozniacki and blast some tennis balls through a tunnel at the Yale Bowl.
