It’s not the “West Coast Swing “ or the “Florida Swing” on the PGA Tour but to Rhode Island and Southeastern Mass golfers it’s the real thing and in some ways even better. Where else can you get up close and personal with some of the best players in the world. It is one of the only times in the season you will see players, laugh and joke and talk to the crowd during a competitive round of golf. Best of all it is right here each year in Little Rhody and all for a great cause. It’s the CVS Caremark Charity Classic at Rhode Island Country Club.

Every year for the 12 years PGA tour professionals and Rhode Island natives Brad Faxon and Billy Andrade bring some of the best players in the world to our doorstep to enjoy some local hospitality of our region. It is a right of summer so to speak for the locals here to get out and enjoy a few days with the pros at one of the most magnificent courses in the area. The event each year generates needed funds for charities throughout the region and in the last 11years has raised more than 13 million dollars for education, family and children’s issues.

The CVs kicks off this year on Sunday June 27th with the Pepsi Pro- Am, followed by the two-day tournament on Monday and Tuesday. This years field features some of last years veteran players with the return of Nick Price and David Toms the 2009 champions as well as Camilo Villegas, Davis Love, Matt Kucher and Peter Jacobsen and Brett Quigley. In addition new players to watch are Ricky Fowler and Hunter Mahan.

LPGA Star Morgan Pressel and Julie Inkster will join newcomers Angela Stanford, Paula Creamer and Suzann Petterson at the CVS this year to round out a full slate of mixed teams. It is sure to be another wonderful time at the CVS Caremark Charity Classic.
