Day #1 At The U.S. Open
The 116th U.S. Open Championship has run into its first weather delay at about 10 am EST. with all of the morning pairings out on the course totaling 78 players. The current severe weather delay has lightening and heavy downpours. Last night Oakmont took heavy rain for over 4 hours last night. The course looks good but greens were softer resulting in some early scoring.
Andrew Landry from Texas has the early through 11 holes. He was up this morning at 6:56 in relatively calm conditions with very responsive greens. The lift and clean rule does not come into play in USGA competitions so there was considerable mud issues all morning. Kevin Streelman through 9 holes iOS ties at -2 with Fitzpatrick, Lee, and Westwood. Jordan Spieth is at -1 – 2 shots off the lead but has only played 4 holes.
The current delay is expected to last for a little more than 1 hour backing up groups well into the afternoon. Additional severe weather warning include a tornado watch 4PM – 7PM and continued thunderstorms are predicted for the rest of the day.WHAT'S YOUR REACTION?
