The 2nd round of the FedEx Cup Playoffs gets underway this week at the Deutsche Bank Championship, being played at the TPC Boston course in Norton, MA. I also get giddy for this event each year as it’s in my own backyard. Making your Fantasy Golf Picks this week, you should take note that for this tournament, ever year it’s a Friday through Monday event, so you get an extra day to make your selections.

TPC Boston is set up for scoring, and we’ve seen that over the years with the very low aggregate scoring. Last year Rory McIlroy posted -20. It’s a par 71 which measures just over 7,200 yards. The par 5s are easily reachable, especially for the bombers.

The Fantasy Golf Picks:

A Group – Back spasms seemed to be plaguing Tiger Woods last week in the final round of The Barclays. He looked to be in a lot of pain, but it didn’t seem to slow him down too much finishing 1 stroke out of a playoff with ultimate winner Adam Scott. With Tiger’s history at TPC he’s a lock to start this week. Backing him up I’ll try to catch a little lightning in a bottle with Gary Woodland. Woodland also finished T2 last week and his game is coming around and looking more like what we saw a couple years ago. Woodland has the length to really take advantage of TPC.

B Group – For the B group this week I’ll be starting two well rested guys in Zach Johnson and Steve Stricker. Each took last week off. Stricker was resting a leg injury and Johnson was the best man in his brother’s wedding. Stricker won the DBC in 2009 and followed it up a year later with a 9th place finish. Before taking a week off, Johnson hadn’t posted anything worse than a T8 (PGA Championship) in his last five starts.

C Group – I’ll be starting Adam Scott with Jordan Spieth on the bench. While I think it’s unlikely that Scott can win in back to back Playoff events, he does have a great track record at the DBC with a victory in 2003 and four other top 10s. I’ll give him the start with the youngster on the bench who doesn’t look intimidated or out of place among the big boys. Spieth ranks 2nd in the All-Around Ranking and also 8th in Total Driving.
