The New Year dawns with exciting destinations already booked which we are eager to experience. Join us precariously or arrange your own personal excursion.
Jekyll Island is hosting a Whiskey, Wine and Wildlife festival in a couple weeks. We’re in! Of course you can enjoy all that and their seaside golf any time on a whim. Fly or drive into Jacksonville, Florida or Savannah, Georgia. There are lots of “beachy keen” activities on surf and turf. The Westin Jekyll Island Golf Club has 3 18-hole courses including the 9-hole Great Dunes. Shake off those winter blues and enjoy southern hospitality along the shore.
Las Vegas is home to the PGA Show in August, yet we haven’t visited the strip in years. This trip will focus on Rees Jones’ remodel of Rio Seco and the rebirth of Cascata all thanks to investment by Vici. We’re pretty sure there will be some “Viva” and all that in addition to great desert golf.
Mountain Lakes of South Carolina is where we’ll rediscover America, river rafting on the Chattanooga (think Deliverance movie and yes, that banjo player still lives there!) We’ll boat on Lake Jocasse and hike to waterfalls. Thursday evenings in April are for Jazz on the Alley on Main Street, Small Town, USA. We’ll play the 7,000-yard Pete Dye course at Cross Creek Plantation and check out Cliffs Living to see if we might want to live in either community. Cliffs Living has seven courses running to the top of Glassy Mountain for panoramic 50-mile views, through vineyards and along a sparkling lake, beside a river and through protected woodlands.
Czech Republic, yes we are going there in May to experience the European travel intrigue that is Prague, Brno, and South Moravia. We are not even sure yet what to expect but will discover the best of the culture, food, scenery and golf. We may also venture into other European countries while across the pond.
Barbados is a small island but big on beauty and championship golf courses. Three are ranked in the top ten in the Caribbean. Sandy Lane lands the #2 spot, Apes Hill is at #7 and Royal Westmorland at #9. The Barbados’ Sugar & Rum event runs from February 1 – April 1, 2018 but we’re sure they won’t run out before we arrive the end of September. Colorful landscape, culture and beaches make it “The Island Beyond.”
Beyond this schedule, who knows where we’ll go in 2018. So many places, so little time. Happy, safe travels to all.WHAT'S YOUR REACTION?
