Bonita National Golf & Country Club just north of Naples in Bonita Springs has a robust Gordon Lewis-designed course up and running, a tennis complex with eight Har-Tru courts, 300 completed homes (out of a projected total of 2,000), and extensive landscaping while a clubhouse and lagoon pool are well underway. At Bonita National, your golf and club facilities are “bundled” or included in your purchase price while your annual golf assessment is but $1,575. Social memberships are also available.

Home styles in this Lennar community include two-bedroom Garden Terrace Homes in mid-rise buildings with a covered parking space; Verandah Homes in two-story buildings with garages; three bedroom Coach Homes located in four-unit buildings with two to three car garages; and two-to six bedroom executive manor estates homes where you get two or three garages. Special choices for estate home buyers include pools and summer kitchens. Prices range from the high $100,000s to more than $800,000 for homes 1,107 to 3,828 square feet.

The well-groomed golf course with four tees, ample bailout areas, few carries, large sandy waste areas, wide fairways and not a whole lot of scary challenges (unless you count the occasional alligator sunbathing on the banks) is playable for all levels. It’s a solid open layout where macho players can hit out from the tips playing 7,019 yards yet shorter hitters can step up to the forward tees measuring 5,030 yards. There are a lot of lakes on the course and wetlands bordering some of the fairways but for the most part, the water does not come into play unless you stray really far out.

Bonita National owners can rent their homes with a 30-day minimum; renters pay a nominal transfer fee to use the golf course and club facilities.
