Marquis Resort and Spa Entry

If infinity edge pools overlooking the Sea of Cortez and unlimited food and beverage are what you are looking for, then look no further than Marquis Los Cabos Resort and Spa, if you please. The safest place in Mexico with easy flight access from everywhere is the exploding region of Los Cabos with every imaginable water activity and great seaside golf options.

The One and Only Palmilla Golf Club is just minutes north of the Marquis with three nines – The Canyon, Arroyos and Ocean Courses. Jack Nicklaus designed all three to attain top ratings in the world since its inception. Managed by Troon Golf, it is a favorite of regulars to the Baja peninsula and served as the Jack Nicklaus Cup venue for members of Nicklaus courses. The Bear himself attended this event last month.

Marquis Resort and Spa Ocean Balcony View

Marquis Resort and Spa Ocean Balcony View

The Ocean Course climax is where number 3’s green teases the beach with perhaps a yacht on the water and mansions perched above for gallery viewing. Rack rate for a stay at the Palmilla One and Only Resort is around $3k per night, which is why we stayed at The Marquis. The Palmilla green fees however are dynamically priced with a $90 siesta twilight rate in November.

The adult only Marquis exudes luxury and pampering with unobstructed views of the ocean from the balcony of every room. The open-air reception is like a painting that comes to life through the grand arch. It mirrors the famous island arch where the Pacific meets the Sea of Cortez in Cabo San Lucas. This is where the richest trophy-fishing tournament awards a $2m+ prize. Sail or boat around the arch, snorkel, dive, fish and whale watch.

The Mission at the Marquis Resort and Spa

The Mission at the Marquis Resort and Spa

In San Jose del Cabo a 1730 Mission is the focal point of the plaza. In Cabo San Lucas, the Glass Blowing Factory is a show and market of Murano quality crafts. The Tequila Museum is a mega store and historical study of their iconic elixir. All are a short cab ride away but perhaps the best idea is to simply stay at the Marquis and relax poolside, walk or ride horses along the beach, spa or join in the fun and games provided by the entertainers.

Six restaurants serve excellent dishes from the poolside ceviche to Benihana style Asian cuisine at Sakke. The Aztecan fire dancing show at the Mexican Fiesta during our stay was the most impressive we’ve seen in the world. Mixologists light a fire in your drink and belly while crashing waves lull the senses 24/7. Cabo Travel is the best in www.InCabotravel.com for arranging high- end golf, corporate and special events, with access to all public courses and some private, even Chileno Bay which is coming soon.
