Add Brattleboro Country Club to Your Bucket List

The first course in Vermont just 5 minutes from New Hampshire and 20 minutes from Massachusetts is far from old school. From the second you drive on the property and see the gorgeous ninth fairway, beautiful restaurant and pro shop you instantly know that Brattleboro Country Club is a special place. But the surprise is when you get in the pro shop and see the new Golf Boards for players of all ages and abilities to surf their round on!

Looking at them, they may seem a bit intimidating. They pretty much look like a Segway with a skateboard attached to the back. But do not fret, you are required to watch an instructional video and sign a waiver before you go cruise around the links. The video tells you how to switch the board into forward, neutral and reverse, how to lean to turn and the high-low speed setting. The high-low speed setting can be tricky at first. Low goes about six miles per hour, and the high setting puts you around 12 miles per hour, cruising. There is no brake… but if you let off the throttle the board will stop itself. The preferred way to stand is to stagger your feet like a snowboard and use your lower body to lean and turn. Leaving the pro shop and heading to the first tee is a huge adrenalin rush!

Fast forward about five holes I was comfortable and it was time to put the setting onto high.

Hole seven was an intimidating one but my favorite of all. A long par five with amazing views. The fairway runs out to about 260. Then there is a huge hill and at the bottom a

perfectly placed pond with the green just over the water. Being brave I took on the water with a nice four iron with success! The back nine has more slope. The boards were such a blast on all the holes and the experience was one of the coolest in my young golf career.

Brattleboro Country Club is truly one of the hidden gems of Southern Vermont and New England for that matter. They have so many great things happening in the near future including an indoor golf center.

Snag a beverage, some delicious food from Jack’s Pub and watch golfers on the nice patio area.

Just a short drive from the highway, Brattleboro Country Club is one of those courses everyone should experience. The course layout and scenery is just spectacular. They have a brand new 2018 fleet of carts or you can reserve a Golf Board so you too can experience what is like to surf the earth on the first course in Vermont.

Brattleboro Country Club’s roots stretch back to its founding in 1914, but feel as contemporary as its 2000 remodeling. BCC is privately owned but open to all who care to stroll its inviting fairways.

The course is located at 348 Upper Dummerston Rd. To Book a Tee Time call 802-257-7380. For more information visit www.BrattleboroCountryClub.com and Like them on Facebook @brattleborogolf
