Saddlebrook Golf Resort & Conference Center

Home of Two Arnold Palmer Designed Courses

The King (Arnold Palmer) dazzled the world of golf for 6 decades winning more than 62 tour events, including 7 majors and is arguably, the greatest golfer to ever play the game. The Arnold Palmer Golf Course Design company designed over 300 golf courses in 37 U.S. states and in 25 countries worldwide. Only one resort in the U.S. has two Arnold Palmer designed 18-hole courses, Saddlebrook Resort in Wesley Chapel, Florida.

In 1982 Saddlebrook Resort opened the Palmer Golf Course and shortly after redesigned the Saddlebrook Golf Course. Saddlebrook golf is renowned for its legendary greens which offer unique challenges and rolling fairways that impress beginning players and professionals alike. The first tees of both courses and the 10th tee of the Saddlebrook Course are located at the center of the resort, as are both finishing 18th holes. Not only is this convenient for resort guests, but also allows the golf team the ability to manage staging play for small or very large groupings and events. The new guidelines for cleanliness, safety, and protection of their guest are top priority of Saddlebrook’s hospitality teams.

Thomas Dempsey, who has been at the reigns since the resort’s opening, envisioned a resort that would allow guests to experience a side of Florida many had never seen. A natural setting with abundant wildlife that thrives because of the preservation of surrounding lakes and woodlands. The resort itself is located within a gated and secure nature preserve that provides a sustainable habitat for numerous protected species. Saddlebrook was one of Florida’s first car-free walking village design that allows guests to easily walk throughout the resort with easy access to all amenities without the need for a transportation system while providing sanctuary to nature.

Saddlebrook Resort’s rich history and the vision of founder Thomas Dempsey can still be felt throughout the 480-acre Tampa resort. Recent accolades include being named one of the ‘Top 100 Golf Resorts in North America, The Caribbean and The Atlantic, Ireland and Scotland’ by Condé Nast Traveler, listed among the ‘Top 25 Tennis Resorts in the World’ by Tennis Resorts Online, and receiving 27 Pinnacle Awards from Successful Meetings, as well as 29 Gold Key, 23 Gold Tee, and 9 Gold Platter awards from Meetings & Conventions magazine, which also lists Saddlebrook as a Gold Hall of Fame member.

Saddlebrook Resort is about 30 minutes north of Tampa on 480 acres and has 800 rooms, including one, two, and three-bedroom suites. The resort features 2 championship Arnold Palmer golf courses, 45 courts in six surfaces including five lighted courts, a 7,000-square-foot spa, fitness center, sand and grass volleyball courts, a regulation-sized basketball court, and a sports-fields. There are 82,000 square feet of meeting space and can accommodate groups from 10 to 2,000 people. For information saddlebrookresort.com
