It’s a marriage made in heaven – golf apparel companies, SwingDish and Covel. Actually, it’s a union made in the heartland of Oklahoma, just like the marriage of founder Tricia Covel and her husband Toby Keith whose pet name for his bride is Trish the Dish. It’s all in the family as Tricia engaged her daughters Krystal and Shelley to assist in the SwingDish business she first created to bring feminine styling to the game she fell in love with. Now Haley who is married to son Stelen is helping full time as well. While Toby has claimed the singing fame of the coupling for 30 years, this is the girls’ gig and they play it very well. The Swing Dish squad since 2013 has introduced lovely distinct pieces every year, consistently innovating with a new touch. Speaking of touch, the 2020 fabrications have a soft and yummy feel, especially the Tuxedo pants in white or black with back and side zippered pockets.

Finishing touches make a big difference in styling, like little embellishments or a pendant zipper pull as on the Grace polo that has fancy ruching on the short sleeves for a cute little poof that gives during the swing. Collars required? They change it up on the Presley sleeveless top with a collar that delivers a stand-up performance in the back, cuddles around the neck to lay down on the side with contrasting bright colors. Untucked never looked so neat as with the round draping edge on the back of the form fitting Presley in artistic patterns that pair well with the Jocelyn Bermuda shorts. Ruching is again incorporated on the pockets back and front giving a little curvature to the flatter behind while expanding to make room in a flattering way for the rounder figure. Styles for all ages is a goal SwingDish meets. The Joann skort with pleated center back hem swirls through the swing. A matching Boyfriend Pullover contours the golfer’s physique with a monochromatic warmth in the mint hue.

This year Tricia and team launched their men’s line, Covel beginning with feel good flexible fabrics on shirts for freedom of movement.  Sleek, simple geometric designs stand out in the Rick Slimfit shirts, softly layered with the Keith Pullover for crisp autumn days.

In the Oklahoma Sooner’s backyard, the Covels’ Belmar Golf Club in Norman hosted the Schooner Classic, a collegiate ladies’ tournament this week. Some of those gals will inevitably make the LPGA tour and perhaps represent the SwingDish line as Bianca Pagdanganan and Jasmine Thidapa Suwannapura do. We were excited to play the private Tripp Davis design at Belmar in between the ad shootings for SwingDish and Covel and the NCAA Schooner Classic. On a warm, sunny day, in our SwingDish outfit and Covel shirt, the manicured fairways and greens shone. A retired boxcar creatively serves as a covered bridge by hole 14, as uniquely inspired as the apparel. Watch for new styles being dished out in both lines at www.swingdish.com  and www.clubcovel.com
